Tent Caterpillars have been winding down their presence with us.
There may still be few here and there in the area.
If they're "visiting" you, contact us ~ we can help!
The other caterpillar visitor the area "hosted" in great number last year was the Fall Web Worm, whose tents look similar to that of the Western Tent Caterpillar.
Here are a few key differences:
Tent Caterpillars' nests form in the Spring / Fall Web Worm appear in late summer to early fall
Tent Caterpillars can spread throughout the trees they inhabit and then become a more invasive nuisance as they come out of the trees looking for a suitable place to make their coccoons.
Fall Web Worm will typically stay in one localized area in the tree and they do not come out of the trees to cocoon like Tent Caterpillars. We can spray to control Fall Web Worm as well!
